The EMJM PHID is aimed at a wide range of professionals who carry out or plan to develop their activity in the field of Public Health in emergency and disaster situation, both from the operational or research scope. This includes emergency and disaster aid workers from public or private agencies, staff of agencies and companies working in disaster prevention, response, recovery, rehabilitation and planning, members of international organizations, officials of ministries or Government offices related to civil defence and emergency, staff of non-governmental organizations, social researchers, etc.).
The Master is available for a maximum of 30 places for highly qualified students. Candidates from any country are welcome to apply (see the Admission procedures and forms section). However, there are differences between European and Non-¬European candidates for the application process. Erasmus Mundus considers as Programme Country candidates:
- Students who are nationals of one of the 27 EU Member States: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, UK, Sweden, Bulgaria, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.
- Students who are nationals of one of the EEA-EFTA states: North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey.
- Students who have resided or carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than 12 months over the past five years (counted backward starting from the official deadline for application to the master) in any of the above listed countries.
All other students are considered as Partner Country candidates, including candidates from: Switzerland and the Western Balkan region (i.e. Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244/99, FYRoM, Montenegro and Serbia).
To be eligible for the Master programme the applicant should fulfil these minimum requirements:
- To be eligible for the EMJM PHID master programme the applicant must be the holder of an undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognised in the country where it operates and in the consortium member countries (Spain, Sweden and Cyprus). Degrees in areas related to Health, Management and Administration, Laws or Social or Technical sciences, and other profiles will be taken into consideration by the Consortium. Undergraduate degrees need to include a minimum of three years’ study at a university and of a minimum of 180 ECTS, or equivalent, according to the regulations in the country of origin and to the European regulations.
- A double-sided photocopy of your completed upper secondary education or high school diploma and record of test scores from the final year of study attested by the diploma.
- A certificate stating the total number of credits previously followed training and the total number of credits per year of successful studies.
- Proficient in English. Applicants must have a good command in English. Applicants must prove a C1 English level as stated below:
- IELTS: minimum score 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing and a minimum of 6.0 in all other elements, or
- TOEFL (IBT): minimum score 79 points with at least 20 points in the writing section, or
- TOEFL (paper based): minimum score 550 points
